Upcoming Meetings

 

 

PLEASE NOTE NEW VENUE!!!!

 

Meetings from April through June will be held in GRAVENHURST at the Muskoka Heritage and Boat Centre –

Grace and Speed, 275 Steamship Bay Road, Gravenhurst (at the Wharf).

 

Unless otherwise indicated, all meetings commence at 7:30 p.m.

 

 

JUNE 7   - Note the change of topic!  Ken Morrison's presentation on New Zealand will now be on July 5.

 

WHIP-POOR-WILLS

 

Audrey Heagy from Bird Studies Canada at Long Point has been one of the leaders of the Whip-poor-will Survey which has been going on for some years.

 

Audrey will speak to us about this bird and its status as a species at risk as well as leading us on an outing immediately after the meeting.

 

We will carpool from Grace and Speed and will arrive there at about l0 p.m.

 

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the Whip-poor-will in a bug free environment at Grace and Speed and then in the field in a not so bug free environment.  REMEMBER bring bug jackets and spray!!

 

 

 

JULY 5  -  PICNIC AND MEETING  -  EXOTIC NEW ZEALAND

 

NOTE:

 

The meeting will commence at 6:00 p.m. and will take place at the MUSKOKA LAKES MUSEUM, at Bartleman Park, PORT CARLING  with a picnic supper.  Pack your picnic baskets  and enjoy supper under the lofty pines on the museum knoll.

 

 

 

Ken Morrison of the Huntsville Nature Club will present a program on the exotic flora and fauna of New Zealand.

 

Ken and Betty toured much of New Zealand for six weeks last year and will share photos of the fantastic flora and fauna of this interesting country.  New Zealand has many species not found anywhere else in the world.

 

Ken and Betty were in Christchurch when the 6.3 earthquake struck!

 

They have many photos and experiences to share with you!

 

 

 

AUGUST 2

 

NOTE:

 

The meeting will commence at 6:00 p.m. with a picnic supper at KERR PARK CHALET, BRACEBRIDGE.

 

Pack your picnic baskets once again and enjoy supper at the Chalet.

 

The program will be announced at a later date!
